Karen is pictured (right) on the cover of the November 2001 issue of Tanning Trends magazine. She was one of the salon owners interviewed for an in-depth article on regulations of the tanning industry.

The International Smart Tan Network presented Karen and Sun Studio Tanning Salon with the 2001 "Smarty" Award for Innovative Achievement.
